DR. ABDUL RAHIM ABDUL RAHMAN

Dr. Abdul Rahim is a Professor at the Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He has been with IIUM since 1992, and prior to that he was an internal auditor with a local conglomerate. Currently, he is also a part-time Research Fellow at the International Shari’ah Research Academy on Islamic Finance (ISRA).

Prof. Abdul Rahim is a committee member of the Economics and Finance research cluster under the Majlis Professor Negara (MPN). He is also a member of the academic panel of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. At IIUM, he has held a number of positions including the founding director of the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF) (2005 - 2007); the head of Department of Accounting (2000 – 2002); and the deputy dean of the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (2003 - 2004).

Dr. Abdul Rahim obtained his Bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of East London, UK. Later, he obtained his Master degree in Accounting and Management Sciences, and PhD in Accounting from the University of Southampton, UK. He is actively involved in teaching, research, and consultancy. His area of interests include accounting for Islamic institutions; Shari’ah auditing; Islamic microfinance; Zakat management; and corporate governance. He has published more than 30 academic papers in international journals, edited books and professional magazines. He has also presented more than 50 academic papers at national and international conferences.
